New Web Launch | August 16, 2011, 9:03 pm
Blue Water Studios and David Thoreson have a new web presence and will continue to develop the site with added marketing of David's various artwork, skills and services. We will have interesting blogging, updated photo and video galleries, news of upcoming events, such as speaking engagements, book releases and traveling exhibits.
It has been a busy year of transition for David since returning from the 28,000 mile sailing journey aboard the s/v Ocean Watch. David edited over 100 hours of digital video and logged the material to spreadsheets with highlight material and B-Roll for various film projects. KOMO (ABC) developed an hour-long documentary which aired in the Pacific Northwest in January 2011 and was nominated for an Emmy. David also began work on a featured book project along with writer Herb McCormick in January 2011. The photo book was just completed in July and is being published by Weldon-Owen in San Francisco. The book is due out in stores this autumn.
An interactive exhibit has been developed by David featuring his amazing photography, stories of adventure and science with included video of the voyage. Entitled "One Island, One Ocean", the exhibit is built to travel the USA and couple with the book project. Contact David or the studio about booking the exhibit and/or David for presentations.
Work continues with PBS and Iowa Public Television (IPTV) on a series of documentaries covering the 2007 Northwest Passage transit and the 2009-10 Around the Americas Expedition. David is working with school children via the internet classrooms provided through the Iowa Communications Network (ICN) and IPTV.
The sharing of David's knowledge and experiences through various means is now the driving force behind his work. David took over 75,000 images alone on the voyage around the Americas. Story-telling is a powerful way to convey David's eyewitness accounts of a changing climate and planet. We hope this new website will be a great tool to help spread the word, and the art, of David's message.
